Chardham Yatra

Beautifully nestled amidst the serene heights of the great Himalayas, the four pilgrim destinations namely Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath and Badrinath collectively form the Charm Dham. Drawing large number of pilgrims each year, these pilgrimage centres have become the most important hubs of religious travel in whole of Northern India. Traditionally, the pilgrimage starts from West and ends in the East, thus, the Char Dham Yatra commences from Yamunotri, then proceeding to Gangotri and finally to Kedarnath and Badrinath. The yatra bestows a sense of fulfilment that stays with the worshippers for a lifetime.

Badrinath, Uttarakhand
Badrinath is famous for its legendary Badrinath temple, and is dedicated to Lord Vishnu. The town of Badrinath exudes spirituality with Panch Badri temples, including Yog Dhyan Badri, Bhavishya Badri, Adi Badri and Vriddha Badri. Some of the popular festivals celebrated at the Badrinath Temple are Kedar-Badri Utsav, Janam-ashtami and Mata Mruti Ka Mela.

Puri, Odisha
Another treasure trove of the Char Dham Yatra is the Jagannath Temple that houses idols of Jagannath, Balabhadra and Subhadra. This twelve year old temple is made of wood of sacred trees and is known for its annual Rath Yatra (the Chariot Festival) when the three deities are taken on a vibrant procession by the worshippers who then place them at the Gundicha Temple for nine days.

Rameswaram, Tamil Nadu
Situated in the beautiful island of Rameswaram, the Ramanathaswamy Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva, and it is believed that this place is where Lord Rama worshipped Lord Shiva after coming back from Sri Lanka. Other two lingams placed here represent Goddess Sita and Lord Hanuman.?

Dwarka, Gujarat
Famed as Jagat Mandir, the magnificent Dwarkadhish Temple is located in Dwarka, Gujarat. Dedicated to Lord Krishna, the temple is believed to be raised by the grandson of Lord Krishna. The Janmashtami Festival is the major festival of the temple, which is celebrated with great fervour, and streams of pilgrims flock here to attend the festival.
