History
Conceptualized by the fifth Nanak, Guru Arjan Sahib, the Golden Temple is a masterpiece by all means. Guru Arjan Sahib wanted to create a central worship place for the Sikhs, and therefore created the astonishing architecture of this holy place. Though prior to Guru Arjan Sahib, the task of building the holy tank (Amrit Sarovar) was designed by Guru Amardas Sahib, it was finally executed by Guru Ramdas Sahib, under the supervision of Baba Budha Ji.
Architectural beauty
The architecture of the Golden Temple offers a perfect combination of Hindu and Islamic architectural styles. Featuring doors in all the directions, the outside of the Gurudwara has been adorned with intricately engraved gold panels with a striking dome glided with 750kg of Gold. All year long this Gurudwara echoes with soul soothing chants of the Guru Granth Sahib (the Sikh holy book) hymned by the priests and musicians.?
According to popular beliefs, a dip in the holy water of Amrit Sarovar washes away all your sins, helping you escape the cycle of rebirth.
