Vaishno Devi in Jammu remains the holiest and most visited shrine among Hindu devotees. People visit here from all over the world to experience its spiritual vibes. The Holy Cave Shrine of Mata Vaishno Devi can be approached by taking a beautiful journey that starts from Katra. History of Vaishno Devi is very puzzling. It is said that this cave was found nearly a million years ago. Since then, this Shrine became the holiest of all Shaktipeeths.
Devotees have to take a 12 km trek on foot to reach Vaishno Devi. The trek starts from the base camp at Katra. As you reach up, you are showered with beautiful views of the surrounding mountains. Best time to plan Vaishno Devi yatra is summer months of May, June and July when thousands of family vacationers flock here to enjoy their summer holidays. This is a peak season here. Winters are also great to take this holy trek. Winter months bring snow fall here, adding to the beauty of the place.
