Spiti Valley stands at a height of 12,500 feet above sea level.
Spiti Valley is home to numerous wonders depicting its natural, cultural and religious wonders. Key Monastery is a major spiritual puller here at an altitude of 4112 m. From here you can catch views of the Spiti River. It is one of the biggest gompas displaying a Buddha shrine, ancient books, manuscripts, and murals. It looks more like a fort with Chinese theme. Tabo Monastery is another holy shrine here housing 9 temples of Tara & Buddha Maitreya apart from numerous Stupas. Visit here and explore beautiful wall paintings and works of Buddha. Lhalung Monastery also holds great importance among the locals of Spiti Valley. I was originally founded by Rinchen Zangpo, a Buddhist Mahaguru. The monastery is also known with the name of Golden Temple as it has many gold leaf deities.
Nature lovers must check out the beautiful lakes of Spiti Valley most of which are blessed with captivating surroundings. Chandratal near Kunzum Pass is a dreamlike lake nestling with verdant greenery and snow-capped mountains. Also visit Suraj Tal, the third highest lake in India. This is a paradise for nature seekers, devoted trekkers, and photographers. Also stop by the Dhankar Lake perched on a cliff at 4270 m. Reaching this scenic trek is a challenging trek though.
Spiti Valley is home to many passes where one can challenge the daredevil inside them. Kunzum Pass, connecting Kullu and Lahaul Valley with Spiti Valley, is perfect for trekkers. The trek is nestling with vibrant Buddhist flags which add vivid colors to the landscape around. ?Baralacha Pass, between Lahaul and Ladakh, is one of the most challenging passes. Here you can see a fusion of Pir Panjal, The Great Himalayan and Zanskar ranges. The pass is ideal for camping, trekking and mountain biking.
