This is a 12th century Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. History of this temple goes back to 400 AD and it has many legends associated with it. Pahalgam is also known for being the starting point for the yearly pilgrimage to the Amarnath cave. This is the holiest expedition among Hindu pilgrims who visit here from all over the world.
Mother Nature has selfishly blessed Pahalgam with all her supreme wonders. Kolahoi Glacier is a spectacular place at an altitude of 18,000 feet where veteran trekkers flock to challenge themselves. During summer months, Kolahoi Glacier melts and adds to the water of the Lidder River. Tulian Lake is another place to sit all day long beholding the views of nature around. The lake rests at a height of 4000 meters above the sea level and from here you can catch views of never-ending greenery, isolated hills and snow-covered peaks.
